  1. Blogging opens communication lines between students and the teacher. Teachers can recieve updates and remarks from students. Students can also communicate to teacher one on one without being in the classroom

If used regularly, blogging can improve communications between teachers and students by providing ongoing access to and exchange of ideas outside of the context of the regular classroom meeting time.

Blogging allows the students and teachers to communicate about ANYTHING, including curricular matters.

  3. Blogging creates a technical/online relationship between teachers and students. It allows a connection beyond the regular school day and enables a student to ask questions that they cannot ask or do not want to ask during class.

  4. Blogging is used as a daily communication resourse for all invloved. It can be used to update / involve all involved.

Example, I have created one for my MCJROTC Marksmanship team as a way to communicate with each other on a daily basis concerning our practice schedule, competitions, fund raising, ect. It works great.

  5. Blogging can improve communication between teacher and student by establishing a fun, meaninful way of conducting dialogue. This can also be an efficient way since response time can be instantaneous. If a student does not understand something discussed during the class session, the student can get a one on one explanation. Sometimes students do not understand an assignment, and the student can verify how to do the assignment before wasting time doing it incorrectly. Bren Stifft

Blogging can increase communication between the students and instructor in a variety of ways. For example, a quiet student who is intimidated or too shy to ask questions etc. during class discussion may access the teacher through blogging. One way that blogging can increase comprehension would be when the teacher provides a summary of class discussion, lecture etc. for the students to read. In addition, students can access blogging from home when they are absent and are therefore more likely to remain on track after returning to school.

  7. I believe that blogging can improve communication and increase comprehension by giving students the opportunity to communicate to their teachers in a manor that is very attractive to them. They can recieve comments from the teachers in a very timely manner.

  13. There are several reasons that blogging is a helpful tool for education. For one reason it uses a form of communication which is up to date with students' life style. Another reason is that blogging is helpful to provide immediate feedback between teacher to student. Plus blogging is fun for both teacher and student. LLMcKinney

  14. BLOGGING IS A GOOD TOOL IF YOU ARE NOT ABLE TO TALK PERSONALLY WITH SOMEONE.

I WOULD USE IT ONLY IF I AM FORCED TO.

  15. Maria,
I truly agree with you in that blogging is very attractive to students especially when they are exposed to all kinds of social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter. Good point!

  20. Mr. Weiss, I totally agree with you that blogging allows students to ask questions pressure free.
Blogging also enables teachers to model, coach and explore different teaching strategies with their students.

  23. I am not interested in being too personal via blogging with students. I understand if used correctly that it can be a great tool. Good old fashioned command style teaching in the classroom is what works for me.

  29. I think blogging is an excellent tool that can be used in a computer class to build stronger student/teacher relationships. I currently have Classroom Manager in my class and at times use it to communicate with students individually or as a group. They love it when I send them note that they can respond to, as well as point out mistakes that they are making. With this program, I have to initiate the communication in order for them to respond. With blogging, they would be able to post things, and retrieve assignments and other important information at any time. I also find that students are sometimes a little reluctant to ask questions for clarification in class but with the ability communicate electronically they tend to be more motivated to ask questions in order to complete tasks.

  31. Blogging allows us to communicate with students on their "turf." I believe students will be more willing to participate and communicate if you do it in a way that is conducive to their ideas of what communication is in the 21st century.

  32. Blogging opens up the lines of communications between teachers and students. It also provides an open forum to discuss classroom topics.

I believe that if the student and the teacher can still communicate outside of the classroom the student can do better in class because if they need help with an assignment and no one is there to help them they can just ask the teacher for some assistance.
