Using online resources is an excellent way to expand the materials available to the classroom teacher for presenting curriculum. By going beyond the limitations of a single textbook, online resources bring the entire world to the fingertips of the students.

Students today use online resoucres before using texts in research and completion of daily assignments. Online resouurces supplement the lesson by allowing students to use the methods they use on a daily basis.

  5. As a speech language pathologist, my concern is the loss of conversational skills. Blogging, IMing, texting, emailing is replacing face-to-face interactions. Will we soon have a generation that can only truly communicate with a keyboard or keypad? Little

  7. b. stifft says: My students can use the resources to look up information to include in their writings of essays, position papers, and elaborated paragraphs. Often they are answering a prompt where they need more information than is available from their personal experiences. This will give the students more access to knowledgable details to include, and this method will enhance their writing. We are struggling to get students to write by expressing themselves fluently.

  11. Ms. Little I totally agree with your comments. I do believe that we are going to see a generation of students that can not verbally communicate with each other adequately.

  13. Ms. Hanrahan, I liked what you said about students being exposed to the different views of people. So many times they are listening to themselves talk and do not stop to listen to others. This way, they are forced to "listen". b. stifft

  16. I think students have a better opportunity to understand content if it is presented in a plethora of ways. Students love using the computer and are internet savy, this will allow them to gather so much more info that will help them comprehend content.

  17. Online resources provide a current and diverse view of topics discussed in class.

  18. I believe that when a online resource is provided the students will be able to work much faster and they will be able to find the right information.
